The Madras High Court today(Nov 24) stayed the release of Vijay starrer ‘Kavalan’, which was scheduled to hit the screens next month.
A petition was filed by Saravanan, proprietor of Thanthra Inc from Singapore against Romesh Babu, producer of ‘Kavalan’. He alleged in his plea that Romesh had promised overseas rights to him for Rs five crore and took Rs 1.5 crore as advance.
But now Romesh Babu has sold the rights to Cinema Paradise. When I sought an explanation through email, he threatened to cancel the agreement I entered with him earlier, Saravanan said.
The petition came up for hearing before Judge S Rajeswaran. After hearing the petition, the Judge stayed the release of the movie for the next six weeks and sent a notice to the producer.
