India started well, removing Katich cheaply, but they dropped a few catches to let Watson off. Ponting survived as well as Ishant bowled one no-ball too many, and those too seemed set to grind India out of the game. And then Raina produced a run out from nowhere to send Ponting back. Since then, India have clawed back, through some tight lines from Ojha and prodigious reverse swing for Zaheer. Watson saw it through with a resolute ton and has an important second day ahead of him.
